Hey y’all!
It’s been a minute right?
Last week I totally forgot about this newsletter. I have been so swamped with the pressure to get my book “Becoming your I am” ready just in time for it to be useful next year.
I am so excited about the next year, but I am trying my best to stay rooted in the present.
We will be seeing more often in 2025, as I am launching our “Daily coffee“ newsletter.
As you may have heard, I am releasing a book this period. In fact, it is now available as Ebook on Selar but we are still waiting for the hardcover to fall through.
This journey has been a really humbling one for me, and I share all about it in this YouTube video;
But what I didn’t share in that video is that we wouldn’t even be talking about any of this if i had followed my earlier resolve to stay back in Akwa Ibom.
I had been praying and trusting God for the next direction, and what I perceived wasn’t exactly what I wanted and because it already what everyone expected of me, I doubted that direction vehemently! Like!
But one day, dressed in my NYSC kit {that I totally miss by the way} a man took interest and said he had a business I could benefit from.
My first thought was, God is that you? Because I had been praying for favour and job opportunities.
I was so excited that at least I got an offer and I had not even collected my NYSC certificate at the time, it was a good omen.
After confirming with God I went for the first meeting and the man was so nice as well as everyone on the team.
They introduced me to the project they had to do and everything looked alright, but something was off within me, I discarded it as simply the fear of change.
I went ahead to announce to my parents and everyone who asked me what my plan for after NYSC was that I had gotten a job, and they were all happy for me.
But the more the day went by the more unsettled I got about it, and as much as I wanted to believe this was God’s direction and was praising God for I had found favour…
I had to pray again; “But God you told me to go…”
“Well did I tell you to accept it?“
“I thought… why did you ask me to go then?“
“So that your mindset can shift.”
You see, God works in mysterious ways. Do you remember the story of Balaam and the donkey? In Numbers 22?
God told Balaam to go with Balak after a little back and forth because Balak was persistent and the pay was really attractive… but then God sent an angel to attack Balaam on the way because He needed to keep him in check so he wouldn’t go and be cursing the people whom the Lord has blessed.
Not all that glitters is gold. Not every open door is God’s direction.
While I was seeing an open door, God saw an opportunity to teach me something.
At the moment, I couldn’t see what I stand to lose if I had gone through with that offer but now, every day as I go about this book project, I keep thanking God for his mercies.
When a door opens, it matters who opens it.
If it be God then you can rest assured that it is leading you to His promises for you, but if it is otherwise, there is always a hidden cost.
Be careful of the price you are paying to walk in an open door. If it is God it would make sense in the long run but if it is the enemy, it has short-term benefits with lasting damage.
I really hope this encourages you as you go about your week this week.
Wait!
I started a new publication to help us stay encouraged and inspired all through 2025!
